Talex navigation system shows the way

15th August 2006 Print
Talex Transonic PNA 6000 and 6000T Embedded Technology, makers of award-winning Talex global positioning (GPS) speed camera warning systems, has extended the Talex product range with new GPS satellite navigation systems combining leading edge technology with ultra-competitive prices.

There are two Talex Transonic Personal Navigation Assistant (PNA) models, designated PNA 6000 and PNA 6000T. Both have 3.5 inch colour LCD touch screens with a host of standard features, covering the UK and Ireland. Additionally, the 6000T boasts an embedded Traffic Message Channel (TMC) module for real-time traffic information. With battery operation, they can even be used on foot and for pastimes such as mountain biking and hiking.

Talex has established a reputation for top quality at very competitive prices and the Talex PNA 6000 is only £249.99 with the PNA 6000T at £299.99 complete with in-car charger and mounting kit, secure digital (SD) card and USB synchronization cable. Online at www.talex.co.uk, these prices include VAT and post and packing.

The Talex PNA 6000 and 6000T can both be programmed using five-digit postcodes with mapping for Europe as an option. Modes for 2D or 3D navigation can be selected and there’s a comprehensive database of 2.5 million ‘points of interest’ such as fuel stations, hotels, restaurants, ATMs, car parks, museums and schools. Each Talex PNA has customizable navigation including fastest or shortest routes, and will show distance to destination and estimate time of arrival, displaying a compass and actual vehicle speed. Turn by turn navigation has voice instructions and the mapping is speed sensitive, giving road detail as needed.

The Talex PNA 6000T goes even further and includes an embedded TMC channel providing lifetime FREE traffic updates via the Trafficmaster network and local radio stations. This provides instant information on accidents, roadworks and traffic jams relevant to the user’s immediate route, in real time. The PNA 6000T will describe the problem, the precise location, direction and effect on surrounding routes, the likely duration of the problem and offer diversion advice and alternative routes.

Talex director Nigel Carter, explained the company’s thinking: "Talex GPS products have gained a great reputation, so we didn’t want to rush into the navigation market without being sure that we had the right products at the right prices. The PNA 6000 and 6000T are accurate, offer real value for money and are very easy to use."

For the technically minded, both use the Windows CE .net 4.2 operating system with SiRFStar III GPS technology. Dimensions are 107.5mm x 70mm x 20mm, weighing in at just 200 grams.
