TD’s Centrepiece: The Medusa

Christchurch-based turbocharger company: Turbo Dynamics (TD) had a head-turning presence at the NEC’s Autosport International Racing Car Show this month. The company attended with a specially-designed sculpture dubbed ‘The Medusa’.

Looking at the stunning sculpture - a part polished, part ceramic-coated Garrett GT42 TD-modified turbo with twisting, intertwined exhaust pipes coming out of it, flowing upwards towards the ceiling - it is easy to see where the name came from; the exhaust pipes interweave almost like giant snakes. Two of the pipes have also been ceramic-coated in blue and red by Turbo Dynamics’ technical partner: Zircotec.

The incredible design was made a reality by the talented team at Primary Designs who created the beautifully crafted pipe-work. Proving to be an attention-grabbing and highly popular centrepiece at the show, the Medusa offered something different from the norm for visitors to look twice at.

Turbo Dynamics also had its newly launched MD555 ‘twinscroll’ turbocharger and range of compressor housings on display. The twin-entry turbo has already won a Best New Product award and is anticipated to be a big-seller. Turbo Dynamics Dealer and sole-distributor of the ‘twinscroll’ turbo: Litchfield Imports has been taking orders for the product.

Other showcased products on TD’s stand included the MD555 single-entry turbocharger and a range of Turbosmart and TiAL Sport performance accessories.

Not stopping there, Turbo Dynamics’ presence at the show was topped off by the beautiful TD Girl: Rebecca, who was back by popular demand. Since her last appearance with the company at Rallye Sunseeker in February, Rebecca has worked for the likes of Harley Davidson, Ministry of Sound and Calvin Klein.

The company’s Marketing Manager, Natasha Miller, said “We are very pleased with how the show went. There was a big turnout, despite the snow, and we are currently following up a flood of enquiries from prospective customers. The show also allowed us to meet and greet some of our current customers in person.”
