House building and safety was on the curriculum at Tavistock Community Primary School this week when Taylor Wimpey paid a visit to the school to talk about its nearby development, Manor Oaks.

In front of an audience of 190 children, aged between 7 and 11 years, Matt Hemsley, assistant site agent, and Diana Newman, regional sales manager for Taylor Wimpey, spoke about the history of the site on which the development is built. They also explained the dangers of playing near construction sites, inviting pupils to model high visibility jackets, hard hats and ear defenders.

Lynnette Selbie, head teacher at Tavistock Community Primary School, said: “We were delighted to welcome Ian and Diana to our school to talk about Manor Oaks, especially as the talk focused on the dangers of treating building sites as playgrounds – an important topic and something our pupils need to be aware of!

“We are keen to continue our partnership with Taylor Wimpey as we follow the progression of Manor Oaks. As you can imagine, learning about the development is very interesting for the pupils as they are growing up alongside it. We are very much looking forward to planning in more activity with the housebuilder this year.”

Diana Newman commented: “We are committed to supporting the local communities in which we build and, as an important part of that, we always try to partner with a local school for projects of this nature.”

Set amongst eight acres of mature parkland, Manor Oaks offers an ideal sanctuary for families to soak up the peaceful atmosphere while exploring the extensive grounds of green open space. Located on the edge of the award-winning historic market town of Tavistock and the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, Manor Oaks offers a range of idyllic two and three bedroom apartments in the recreated Manor House and three and four bedroom mews houses. Prices start from just £149,995.
