Seat searches for soccer stars of today, and tomorrow

SEAT is searching for the next Beckham, Ronaldo, Gerrard, Lampard and Walcott as it kicks off a nationwide five-a-side tournament which offers the overall winners a football trip of a lifetime.

As official presenting sponsors of the UEFA Europa League, the sporty Spanish brand has set up the inaugural SEAT FIVES tournament to put amateur teams to the test. 

And if the glory of taking the national title weren’t incentive enough, VIP hospitality at the UEFA Europa League Final, accommodation in Hamburg and flights are all included in the tournament’s grand prize.

Of course it won’t be easy: would-be winners will have to dribble, kick and – most importantly – score their way through the qualifying rounds in February, before heading on to the regional finals in March.  After that comes the national final which is set to be held at no less a Premiership venue than Aston Villa’s impressive Villa Park on Tuesday 13 April.

The qualifiers are kicking off throughout this month at Goals Soccer Centres across the UK, and already entries are flooding in as would-be soccer stars sign up.

The competition in fact features two strands, with a maximum of 500 teams taking part in the 39-venue public tournament while around 60 contract hire and leasing companies prepare to contest a fleet title.

Meanwhile, running alongside the conventional five-a-side tournament is an innovative, web-based Kicks & Tricks competition for over-14s who are being asked to submit video clips of their ‘freestyle football’ skills via SEAT’s loyalty website, Club SEAT.

An online vote among Club SEAT members will decide which talented youngsters perform live at April’s SEAT FIVES final.  The outright winner at that event will, again, be offered the chance to experience top drawer European football at its finest as a VIP spectator at the 2010 UEFA Europa League final in Germany.
