Scottish Motorsport to receive boost
Scotland has produced some of the world’s finest drivers, including three World Champions – racers Jackie Stewart and Jim Clark and rally hero Colin McRae – and has a universally popular race circuit, Knockhill. Yet by common consent, the Scottish motorsport scene is not what it should be. Well that is about to change, following MIA-led discussions with the indigenous motorsport industry and those involved in the sport itself.Said Chris Aylett, “The Industry cannot sit by and wait for the sport to grow on its own, so we have taken the lead in seeing how regeneration can best be triggered. There are over 100 specialist motorsport companies operating in Scotland and we are working with Scottish Development International and other Government agencies, as well as the country’s motorsport organisers, to ensure their business grows.
“Following two years of discussion and a tour of the area last week, we are making significant progress and I expect to announce some exciting plans before the year end.”
