Kwik-Fit tyre range with free guarantee and puncture repair
New research from Kwik-Fit reveals the cost of the UK’s damaged and debris-strewn roads, with 28% of motorists (8.5 million) having suffered a puncture or flat tyre in the last twelve months, spending an estimated £300 million on new rubber.
Tyres can go flat either from a hard impact such as hitting a pothole or kerb, which can damage both the tyre and the wheel rim or from debris such as nails or glass which make a small hole and can often cause a ‘slow puncture’. The research shows that London is the worst affected area in the country, with four out of ten motorists in the capital saying they have had a flat in the last year. This is more than twice the rate found in the East Midlands, which registered the lowest number of punctures.
The good news for motorists is that in 40% of cases, punctures were repaired, sparing around 3.5 million drivers the cost of a new tyre. As repairing a puncture costs around £15, Kwik-Fit estimates that these motorists will have saved around £157 million.
Now Kwik-Fit has introduced a range which can save drivers money whatever the reason for their flat tyre. Britain’s biggest tyre retailer has linked with Italian manufacturer Marangoni to bring a unique double offer for peace of mind motoring. All Marangoni tyres sold at Kwik Fit come with both free puncture repair and free road hazard guarantee. With this guarantee, any repairable punctures are free, including re-balancing, valves and nitrogen refill and any Marangoni tyre suffering accidental damage can be replaced free of charge.
David White, customer services director at Kwik-Fit says: “Our research shows just how many drivers are inconvenienced by punctures or tyre damage every year. Fortunately, in many instances these don’t require a new tyre but can be simply and quickly repaired. However, even if drivers do need a new tyre, with our new Marangoni range they will be covered by the road hazard guarantee – so whether it’s a pothole blow out or a slow puncture from a small nail, they can save additional cost.”
Marangoni has a strong heritage in motorsport, with particular success in hill climbing, having won the last three European championships. The firm has used its race experience to develop its road tyres. A range of mid-priced tyres, from economy to performance, is now available in more than 600 Kwik-Fit centres across the country as well as from its mobile service. Prices start from £38 (£30.40 if four are purchased) enabling drivers to take advantage of the range’s added extras, without paying a premium.
Kwik-Fit is currently offering a discount of 10% when customers buy two Marangoni tyres and 20% if they buy four. This offer runs until 31 March 2010.
