npower to launch Welsh boiler scrappage scheme

npower hometeam has welcomed the news of the Welsh boiler scrappage scheme, and became the first major energy supplier to launch its own boiler scrappage scheme in Wales, with immediate effect.

Along the same lines as the proposed Government Boiler Scrappage Scheme, npower hometeam, which installs, services and repairs boilers, will offer £400 off a new boiler when replacing one that’s over 10 years old.

The new Government scheme promises to offer £500 to 5,000 over 60s households in Wales that are replacing ‘G-Rated’ boilers with A-Rated systems.

What’s more, npower’s offer will apply to consumers of all ages, and boilers aged ten years or older.  This means that the under 60s, or households whose boilers are old but not G-Rated, can still enjoy a discount.

Kevin Miles CEO npower retail said: “It’s vital we play our part in supporting this Government initiative.  Customers can now enjoy £900 off the cost of a new boiler, which could be almost a third off the cost of an installation.  This is in addition to savings of nearly £235 off an annual gas bill, compared to a G Rated boiler*.

“However, with just 5,000 installs up for grabs, consumers should act quickly to avoid disappointment.”
