Make your Easter travel money stretch further

23rd March 2010 Print

With Easter city break bookings on the up compared to previous years*, but sterling remaining at near-historic lows, holidaymakers planning a trip abroad will be looking at how they can make their travel pounds stretch further.

Indeed, as the recession continues to bite and holidaymakers are more likely to opt for Easter-time European or US short breaks rather than the traditional two week long-haul trip, getting the best deal on travel money has become even more important.

To mark the launch of its new travel money website The Change Group is guaranteeing the best Euro or US Dollar exchange rate on the market versus Post Office branches or Marks & Spencer high street bureaux. Customers will be entitled to a refund on the difference if they do not secure the best available rate. Rates are updated daily.

People can buy their currency online at any point before departure, have it delivered next day, free of charge to their home or even collect it just before they fly from one of The Change Group’s 21 UK bureaux. Holidaymakers can avoid further charges when purchasing travel money by making a free internet banking transfer to The Change Group.

Sacha Zackariya, CEO at The Change Group said: “Easter remains a popular time for trips abroad and, if ABTA figures from last year are anything to go by, we could be looking at a rush of foreign Easter breaks this year too.

“When planning a trip abroad, it pays to shop around for currency. Holidaymakers are most likely to get the best deal if they pay close attention to the exchange rate. However, a number of other factors come into play, such as additional charges for currency to be delivered and buy back charges, not to mention hefty fees for relying on a credit card for foreign purchases.”

The Change Group is one of the world’s leading foreign exchange providers to consumers and corporates alike. It has 21 bureaux in the UK, including a range of high street bureaux in central London, airport bureaux at London Luton, Glasgow Prestwick, Belfast and Cardiff and more than 120 other branches worldwide.

A £200 minimum purchase applies for all purchases, online only. No other charges apply and delivery is free.

The Change Group, through its partnership of The Tree Foundation, donated around £250,000 to the tsunami appeal and gives 1.5 per cent of its profits to the Tree Foundation each year.
