Ryanair to sell The Independent onboard

Ryanair this week began selling The Independent to passengers travelling to/from London Stansted. Ryanair, which already sells The Irish Independent and Sunday Independent on flights to/from Ireland begins a six month trial with The Independent and The Independent on Sunday which will be available for just £1* on all Stansted based aircraft.
Ryanair will expand its onboard sales of The Independent and The Independent on Sunday to other UK bases should this six month trial at London Stansted prove successful.
Ryanair’s Sinead Finn said:
“Ryanair likes to make the news and now we will sell the news as we carry 30 million passengers to/from the UK this year. Having successfully sold The Irish Independent and Sunday Independent onboard our flights from Ireland for a number of years now we believe that this six month trial of The Independent and The Independent on Sunday will prove a huge success with passengers flying to/from London Stansted. We hope to offer these high quality newspapers to passengers at our other UK bases should this six month trial at Stansted prove successful.”
John Simmonds, Circulation Manager of Independent Newspapers said:
“This deal represents a great opportunity for us to grow sales through non-traditional outlets, and we are pleased that our readers will have the chance to enjoy the newspaper whilst travelling with Ryanair. We believe that there will be significant demand for newspaper, particularly on flights back into the UK, and hope to expand the deal to Ryanair’s other UK bases”.
*The Independent is £1 Monday – Friday, £1.60 on Saturday and The Independent on Sunday is £1.80.
