Experience Africa's migration madness

8th April 2010 Print

Africa is a spectacular backdrop for one of the greatest events in the wildlife calendar.

Each year, around 1.5 million wildebeest and 300,000 zebra and antelope gather up their young and migrate over 1,800 miles from Tanzania’s Serengeti Plains towards Kenya’s Masai Mara Reserve in search of luscious grass.

This is no easy journey as every step is tracked by the continent’s most dangerous predators, providing spectators with the spectacular scene of lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs following the herds.

A safari taking in the main areas of migration provides the perfect opportunity to observe this rare sight and Imaginative Traveller’s Visions of Africa trip combines Tanzania and Kenya, visiting the Masai Mara Nature Reserve, Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro and Lake Victoria as well as some of the region’s less visited highlights.

The 15 day Visions of Africa tour starts from £2650 per person tour only including 14 nights accommodation (12 nights hotel, two nights tented bush camp), most meals, transport (4WD vehicle, boat and private bus), and the services of a tour leader and driver. A local payment of US$800 is payable locally. Flights are available on request.
