Shop ‘til you drop in Las Vegas

15th April 2010 Print

The recent opening of Crystals shopping and entertainment district has brought even more luxury labels to the Las Vegas strip. Along with the vintage stores, high–end retailers and quirky souvenir shops, there is now something to suit all tastes and pockets.

Here are the top five tips to make the most of your shopping trip:

1. Spoil yourself

Dramatic architecture meets high-end couture at Crystals, the newest addition to shopping on the Strip. The half a million square-feet retail and entertainment district located at CityCenter showcases an array of luxury brands including Prada, Christian Dior, Tom Ford, Ermenegildo Zegna, Lanvin, and Versace. Louis Vuitton has opened its largest North American store there and Tiffany & Co features an exclusive range of jewellery. Eva Longoria Parker’s restaurant, Beso, offers fine dining to complement the finest shopping.

2. Bag a bargain

Las Vegas has a multitude of fashion outlets, perfect for bagging a deal. Savvy shoppers can find designer outfits with up to 75-percent off at The Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas shopping mall and Las Vegas Outlet Center. Vintage Vegas fans, meanwhile, should head to the Attic (1018 South Main Street Las Vegas), the largest vintage retailer in the world. Sift through clothes ranging from T-shirts to wedding dresses, all from a bygone era, and find the definitive vintage souvenir.

3. Make shopping fun

In Las Vegas, the shows extend beyond the theatres and even the shopping centres present dazzling entertainment. Miracle Mile really lives up to its name by combining fantastic shopping with an indoor rainstorm! Choose from 170 high street favourites, including H&M, Urban Outfitters and True Religion Brand Jeans in this mile-long complex. For some post-shopping refreshment, the thunder, lightning, fog and pouring rain spectacle occurring every hour is not to be missed.

For a strictly fashion-focused experience, the Fashion Show mall encompasses nearly two million square-feet and is the largest shopping venue on the Las Vegas strip. An exceptional line-up of shops ensures the mall is well worth a visit and where else but Las Vegas would you be treated to a catwalk fashion show every hour during the weekend?

4. Find a unique keepsake

If it is a weird, wacky or wonderful souvenir you are after, Las Vegas has shops to cater to your every whim.

Impress your friends at home with the tale of who wore your Jimmy Choos before you after a visit to the Refinery Celebrity Resale Boutique (3827 East Sunset Road, Las Vegas, NV 89120-3900 Tel: (702) 384-7340). Celebrity-worn pieces, including Christian Louboutins, Tom Ford accessories and dresses and suits worn by Hollywood stars, are sold here at unbelievably discounted prices.

5. Shop around the world

Let Las Vegas transport you to the glamour of Italy and the sophistication of Paris. At the Venetian, relax in style on a gondola ride as you scope out where to shop next. Be serenaded by classically trained singers at a recreation of St Mark’s Square in the upscale shopping district of The Grand Canal Shoppes. Among the highlights along the way are Burberry, Jimmy Choo and Davidoff. For a Parisian experience, Le Boulevard District’s picturesque cobblestone streets and winding alleyways carry shoppers to Le Cave, to sample their premier French wines, Lunettes’ designer eyewear and the fine jewellery and crystals of Le Paradis. The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace features more than 160 boutiques as well as 13 restaurants and specialty food emporiums where shoppers will find everything from famous designers such as Versace, Ann Taylor and Boss Hugo Boss to popular favourites like Diesel, Guess and Banana Republic.
