Family safaris in South Africa

Families with children have always been welcomed at Sabi Sabi's Bush Lodge in Sabi Sands, South Africa. Now the family experience reaches a new level with the opening of the EleFun Centre, a fully fledged children's facility within the lodge environs which fosters children's awareness and appreciation of nature.

The recently completed centre was designed by childcare professionals who set about creating a space that is fun, safe and educational. The EleFun Centre will be offering hands-on, interactive activities designed for two distinctly different age groups. The Junior Tracker Programme is for 4 to 8 year olds and the Junior Ranger Programme for 9 and 12 year olds.

Junior Trackers and Rangers will learn about the animals, bugs, birds and trees and plants. Sabi Sabi rangers will lead the children in a wide range of activities including nature walks, tracking, bird identification and map reading. Arts and crafts and indoor and outdoor games are on offer in the afternoon for down time, including treasure hunts, blindfold adventures, memory and card games, local bushveld games and drumming! There will also be specially planned children’s game drives. The beautifully designed centre also includes a wonderful, secure, outdoor play area.

While set itineraries will take place every morning and afternoon, the children will also be welcome to enjoy the facility between formal sessions. Parents can relax and enjoy the incredible safaris, get pampered in the spa, or just kick back and enjoy some private time, knowing that their children are revelling in their own special bushveld experience.

Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve is situated in the world-renowned 65000 hectare Sabi Sand Wildtuin in the South-Western section of the Kruger National Park, a wildlife oasis where big game abounds and roams freely throughout this pristine part of the ancient African continent. The diverse habitat is home to spectacular wildlife including the Big 5 - lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant - as well as cheetah, wild dog and some 200 other animal species indigenous to the area.

‘To Escape To’ is offering a South Africa family fun itinerary combining 3 nights on safari at Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge (on an all inclusive basis) and 4 nights at the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town (on a bed and breakfast basis) from £3,300 per adult and £1,775 for children under 12 including all international flights and transfers and for travel up to 1st October and subject to availability. This is a saving of £400 per adult and £125 per child.
