When Paulina Andrzejewska and husband Tomasz decided to put down roots in Taunton, their first challenge was to find the perfect home while also taking their first step on to the property ladder.

Like many first time buyers, the family found getting a foot in the door tricky – until they turned to the Old Cider Works. One look at Barratt’s stunning development in Norton Fitzwarren and they were hooked.

“We felt certain we would find a home that we really liked there – but weren’t sure about whether we would be able to afford the deposit and the mortgage needed,” said Paulina.

“We needn’t have worried. From the moment we walked in to the Old Cider Works, everybody there was fantastic. The help and advice we were received made the whole process very smooth and – along with our six-year-old daughter – we are making the dream home for ourselves.”

The family were able to take advantage of the HomeBuy Direct scheme.

“We have secured funding from the government for this scheme which is proving invaluable for first time buyers together with part exchange for existing home owners to move up the housing ladder,” said Barratt sales manager Mary Daymond.’’

Under the HomeBuy Direct scheme buyers can move in for just 70 per cent of the price, the remainder of the price is jointly funded by Barratt and the Government, through a 30 per cent equity loan, and buyers only require a five per cent deposit.

The family chose to move to the three bedroom Essex design. From £198,500, this stunning terraced house features a spacious family lounge with french doors to the rear garden. A quality kitchen with extra storage and a separate dining room both add to the feeling of space. Upstairs, the master bedroom includes en-suite facilities – and a colour-coordinated family bathroom completes the family’s wish list.

Other home designs offered at the Old Cider Works are the two bedroom Falkirk apartments from £123,500, two bedroom Norton apartments from £146,500, two bedroom Milton apartments from £149,000, three bedroom Brandon house types from £175,950, the three bedroom Maidstone home from £187,500 and the four bedroom Dumont which is priced from £238,000.

This is a much awaited site at the foot of the Quantock hills and just outside the thriving market town of Taunton.

The Old Cider Works, as the name suggests, is the regeneration of a disused cider plant and is within easy reach of both the town and the surrounding villages for all local amenities and services.

For details of current availability at The Old Cider Works visit the sales office, open daily from 11.00am to 6.00pm.
