‘Barn find’ of classic cars goes under the hammer at BCA Blackbushe

Bank Holiday Monday (3rd May 2010) will provide classic enthusiasts with a large collection of cars dating from the late 1940s to the 1980s in a unique sale at British Car Auctions, Blackbushe.

In storage since the early 1990s, many of the cars will need recommissioning before returning to the road, with several being serious restoration projects.  But others require little more than a dust-off and a new MOT such as the 1966 vintage Thunderbird pictured. 1966 Thunderbird

Blackbushe manager James Gibson commented “There are several Daimlers on offer, including a 1949 DB 18 4-door saloon, 1954 Century Conquest Saloon, 1958 Majestic 4-door saloon, and several Century saloons that will interest post-War collectors.

“A 1969 Crayford Cortina Mk 2 1600 Convertible is a rare car, and a choice of mid-sixties Cortinas - 1966 Cortina Deluxe – including a 1966 Mk 1 two-door and 1967 Mk Estate - is sure to attract collectors and enthusiasts. A 1975 Morris Marina Pick-Up is also a rarely seen model as relatively few were sold at the time.”

Gibson added “The sale also features a sprinkling of Americana, with a 1972 GM Oldsmobile Toronado 2-door that was the original 1972 London Motorshow car, a pair of 1973 Thunderbird Convertibles, and a 1979 Lincoln Continental.  Plus there’s a 1970 Chrysler Valiant Convertible, an Australian variant that is very rare on UK shores.”

The sale is open to the public and starts at 12 Noon on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday, May 3rd, with viewing from 9.00 am that morning.  Catalogues are available online at british-car-auctions.co.uk  and on the day of the sale itself.
