Crest Nicholson keeps Portishead swimmers afloat
Swimmers in Portishead have been buoyed by a donation by Crest Nicholson to local swimming club, Fit Swim.
The club, which offers lessons to children and adults in how to swim and be confident in the water, was in need of new floats and equipment in order to continue to provide Portishead’s water enthusiasts with expert tuition. Crest Nicholson was on hand to help out with a donation of £400.
The money has allowed the club, which is run by personal trainer Hazel Davis, to buy a range of new floats, including specialist shark fin floats which offer greater ease of movement for beginners and those with impaired mobility, as well as improving a swimmer’s position in the water.
Laura Osborne, Sales Manager for Crest Nicholson, said: “Local groups and clubs like Fit Swim, as well as Hazel’s other Fitime classes and activities, are at the heart of the community in Portishead and we are very glad to be able to support them in any way we can.
“The area of Crest Nicholson’s Port Marine development has a very proud nautical history and it is great that there is the opportunity available for Portishead’s youngsters to become confident and skilled in the water.”
Hazel Davis added: “I am delighted to be able to use my expertise and passion as a personal trainer and swimming instructor, along with my team, to offer a service to the community. It will help to raise money for the pool and also I will be able to offer motivation and a life skill to anyone who wants to train in the many activities.”
In addition to Fit Swim, Hazel also runs personal training sessions at Harbourside Health Centre in Portishead, ‘Army Barmy’ – a military-style fitness class, ‘Masters’ swimming club to help swimmers reach their competitive potential and hopes to soon set up aqua aerobics at Portishead Open Air Swimming Pool.
From 1 June – 4 June, Hazel will also be running a half-term morning health and sports club for children where they will be able to try a range of different sporting activities as well as learn more about healthy foods.
