Piazza Tigne now finished and open to the public
Building works on Piazza Tigne, Sliema’s largest open square, are now finished and the “shopping and dining hub” is open to the public.
The Point Retail Centre is the largest shopping mall on the island with over 14,000 sqm of retail space. It has been constructed at a cost of some 60 million euro to designs created by the London based firm of retail and office design consultants, GMW and leading local architectural practice aoM partnership.
The Point retail centre within the impressive Tigne Point development is spread on four floors with the lowest floor entirely dedicated to car parking. It is anchored by Debenhams which is providing a 3,000 sq. metre anchor department store. The adjacent Piazza Tigne offers boutiques, outdoor cafes and restaurants whilst The Point, provides a plethora of shopping delights including Massimo Dutti, Mango, Guess, Lacoste, Stradivarius, Gant, Reebok, Nike and many other international brands. A state of the art supermarket is part of the mix and completes the self contained destination for residents who have everything from coffee shops and designer stores to chic restaurants and exciting retail opportunities within walking distance.
Piazza Tigne therefore is set to become the public focus of the new urban area of Tigne Point benefiting from the convenient and safe car free zone. Residents and tourists alike will be drawn to the stunning new heart of the area.
Walkways meander to the Clubhouse and its restaurants and pretty foreshore pedestrian routes which border the peninsula, have been opened up allowing for delightful tracks along the rugged coastline.
Piazza Tigne integrates the many aspects of the Tigne Point development as if forms an interface between the offices and residential homes. It will be a meeting place for tourists, residents and business people drawn to the attractive cafes, restaurants, shops and sports facilities.
The clever design of the Piazza has resulted in the split level, sunnier south facing side, being lower than the rest which will form an ideal setting for cafe seating. The South West remains open with sea views where the eye is taken down pedestrian streets and passages to the historic face of The Point.
The Northern side of Piazza will be bordered by high grade offices whilst the Western boundary features The Point which will host Sliema Wanderer’s impressive new training grounds on its roof.
The square itself is tree lined and dedicated to boutiques, shops, eateries and 22 unique designer townhouse and studio apartments.
Works to the south residential area of this 30 acre project are almost all complete and already practically all of the 260 luxury apartments have been sold, 40% to overseas buyers.
There are now only nine homes remaining, so those wanting a good investment, a unique property and a location that could only be marvellous Malta, then now is the time to take a look at what’s on offer.
