Straight talking Gene Hunt for Prime Minister
A survey carried out by virginmedia.com, has found that 43% of voters would like to see Ashes to Ashes cop show star Gene Hunt become Prime Minster. Rather aptly set in the 80s, Hunt could also go by the name of the Iron Man with his blunt, straight to the point character. This landslide win for Gene Hunt comes at a time when the British public are looking for honest government, especially after the past year’s scandals in parliament.
The Doctor from Doctor Who wins second place with 20% of the votes. The Doctor promotes himself as a strong candidate by being an off the wall super hero, fighting the Daleks with his glamorous assistant and subtly disguised time machine. If the public can trust him to save the world, why not make him Prime Minister?
With 17% of votes, Top Gear’s The Stig made a surprise entry in third place. Despite the fact that The Stig is faceless, and being a mute might effect his presentation of policies, this shock entry may indicate the need for action rather than the endless debates in politics today. Prime Minster’s Questions in the House of Commons would never be the same again.
Commenting on the poll, Alison Davis, Director of Online at Virgin Media said “There is more indecision in this election than ever. It’s interesting to see the characteristics the public thinks make a good Prime Minster from those TV characters we know so well. Bluntness, bravery (in the face of Daleks) and action win out here in this poll. Perhaps Brown, Cameron and Clegg should take note.”
