The UK’s leading cashback website, Quidco.com has generated £650 million of sales for UK retailers and saved consumers £70 million since it began offering discounts to online shoppers five years ago.

Quidco.com was set up by husband and wife team Paul and Jen Nikkel while Paul was studying at Sheffield University, so that people could save money while they shopped for everything from groceries to car insurance, holidays or the latest gadget.

What started as a hobby has grown into a thriving business, and Quidco.com now employs 40 staff at offices in London and Sheffield. Last year it received a boost when successful entrepreneur and former Friends Reunited CEO, Michael Murphy bought into the business to help expand its membership. It currently has more than 820,000 members and will generate more than £250 million of sales this year.

To celebrate its fifth birthday, anyone that signs up to Quidco.com, makes a purchase through the site or forwards a deal to a friend during May will be allocated a code to be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win more than 200 prizes including high street vouchers, holidays, cameras and laptops.

Nicola Frame from Quidco.com says:

“Quidco.com was started by a student who wanted to make his money go further and saw an opportunity to help other people do the same thing. Five years on, Quidco.com has generated more than half a billion pounds worth of sales for UK businesses and helped shoppers save £70m. Looking for the best deal on everything from your restaurant bill to your energy bill is now firmly in vogue, and not just for people on a tight budget.”
