Buyers looking for a brand new home in Bridgwater have limited time to move in for just 70 per cent of the price at Barratt’s Festival development. The government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme is due to end shortly with all completions required before the end of September.

But the good news is that HomeBuy Direct is available on two and three bedroom homes, including the newly launched Mermaid apartments and a view home is currently available to help buyers visualise how they would feel at home in this stunning two bedroom home.

Sales manager Mary Daymond said that first time buyers looking to get onto the housing ladder have a great opportunity at the moment – but this will not last much longer.

“We know there is demand from first time buyers but for those looking for a little help onto the housing ladder HomeBuy Direct is a tremendous scheme," said Mary.

Buyers who are eligible for the scheme can move into a brand new home at just 70% of the purchase price as up to 30% is funded by a shared equity loan from Barratt and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and buyers only need a five per cent deposit.

For those looking at the new Mermaid apartment, the asking price is £125,000 and this is available for £87,500 with HomeBuy Direct.

“It’s perfect for first time buyers and has ensuite facilities together with a car port and in a great waterside setting,’’ said Mary. “This is just one of the two and three bedroom homes we have at Festival so there is a good choice to suit a range of tastes and budgets."

Festival is located in a prime position just a short walk from the town centre and there is a canal and tow path close to the site. Bridgwater has recently been the focus of regeneration and offers a variety of shops and amenities.

Nearby towns include Taunton, Weston and Street, with its famous Clarks’ Shopping Village. Commuting is easy as the M5 motorway offers speedy access to Bristol, Taunton and Exeter.
