New auctioneer first to lead with live online bidding
Historics at Brooklands has become the first specialist classic and sports car auctioneer in the UK to offer a real-time, online bidding service for its auctions.
By enlisting i-bidder technology, Historics’ will deliver it’s overseas clients and prospective buyers who can’t make it to auction, the best possible opportunity to engage, beginning at the inaugural sale on June 2.
During the sale, prospective buyers will see on screen a picture of each lot, just as they would in person at the auction, whilst a live audio feed keeps prospective purchasers up to speed on current bids in real time. Bidding the current asking price is just a one-click process with each live bid made via i-bidder.com, relayed directly to the auctioneer.
In a further fillip to overseas bidders, the i-bidder system allows users to viewLot values in their local currency.
Whilst the basis of its business may be of a classic nature, by providing a virtual bidding service, Historics at Brooklands has positioned itself as a forward-thinking, modern auction house, re-stating its desire to deliver an all-inclusive experience to buyers and sellers.
Historics’ Auction Director, Edward Bridger-Stille, commented: “attending in person remains the best and most exhilarating way to buy at auction, but we recognise that there are increasing numbers of prospective buyers, not all of whom can get to our sales at Brooklands.
“By offering online bidding, we hope to allow as many people as possible the opportunity to sample even a small part of what buying a fine classic or sports car at auction is all about.”

Once registered, you can sign in to i-bidder prior to the auction starting and watch and listen as each Lot comes up for sale. Bidding the current asking price is just a one-click process, while images of each Lotcan be enlarged, detailed information accessed and asking prices converted into local currency, all at the click of a button.
