Caribbean resort prepares to party
The biggest and best-loved festival in Saint Lucia, ‘Carnival’ will return to the island this month in an explosion of colours, music and celebration and a leading Caribbean resort will be joining in the fun.
Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort is gearing up for the event, which takes place in Saint Lucia’s capital of Castries, only 8km away from the hotel.

Various events take place throughout June and July, including musicians, street parties and a colourful parade through the streets of Casties where locals don vibrant fancy dress costumes and calypso and steel pan bands compete with each other to perform the loudest, most energetic sets.
All events lead up to the two main parade days, known as Carnival Monday and Tuesday on 19 and 20 July.
On carnival Monday, carnival bands make their way through the streets from the Choc Round-about, having been judged in front of the Castries Market. On Carnival Tuesday the bands return, going through the city circuit again for the last lap jam session.
