Ease the queeze of travel sickness this summer

If you are going on holiday this year, UK or abroad, it will most certainly require a car, train, plane or boat journey. It is estimated that one in three Britons can be affected by travel sickness symptoms such as nausea, sickness, dizziness and headaches. For some that is enough to make them dread their holiday.

Travel sickness occurs when the brain receives conflicting signals about the body’s movement and balance. However, it's not always motion alone that can trigger travel sickness. Smells, from food or petrol or focusing on a nearby object, such as trying to read a book or a map, can make people feel queasy. Anxiety that it's going to happen can also be a contributing factor.

Mild symptoms of travel sickness can usually be improved with a number of self-care techniques, such as:

• Avoid looking at moving objects, instead try to close your eyes or keep them fixed on something straight, such as the horizon if you are on a boat
• Wear sunglasses to reduce the visual input from your eyes
• Take 1-2g of ginger or even ginger biscuits or ginger tea to help settle the stomach
• Avoid tea, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and spicy food as these stimulate the part of the brain that causes nausea
• Try distracting your brain by listening to music and focus on breathing slowly and deeply
• Get as much fresh air as possible
• Take Nelsons Travella, travel sickness tablets before you travel

Nelsons Travella contains a unique combination of seven homeopathic remedies, each specifically chosen to bring soothing relief for the unpleasant symptoms associated with travel sickness.
