Environmentally conscientious Central Auto Supplies (CAS) has just taken delivery of a major Citroen LCV order to further improve the fuel efficiency and emissions profile of its delivery fleet.  The Wellingborough-based company, which has 19 depots, primarily in the Midlands and East Anglia, has bought 41 Nemo 1.4HDi LX vans and two Relay 35 L3H2 120 vans.

Supplied by Citroen dealer Duff Morgan, Norwich, the new Nemo vans were chosen for their fuel efficiency and low emissions during a stringent selection process that reflects the high demands of the delivery fleet.  With more Nemos expected to join the CAS fleet later this year, well over half of the company’s 100+ delivery fleet will be made up of Nemos - which regularly return over 60mpg in service.

Peter Jipson, CAS operations manager, explains, “CAS is committed to reducing the environmental footprint of its vehicle fleet, through driver training and the specification of state-of-the-art technology.  As such, the Nemo - which is the UK’s most fuel efficient van and has the lowest CO2 emissions for a high cube LCV van - is an excellent fit for our business.  We are delighted with the Nemo’s 60+mpg fuel economy capability on our multi-drop delivery pattern and its low cost of operation - while our drivers benefit from a high level of comfort and safety equipment.”

CAS Nemos are specified with the optional Extenso folding passenger seat, which provides a flat load deck length of almost 2.5m.  This allows CAS to carry exhaust pipes and other long parts safely and conveniently within the vehicle.

CAS also specifies its Nemos with optional rear glazed doors and has bought LX specification model for the benefits of remote central locking, nearside side loading door and a fully adjustable driver’s seat and steering column.

CAS - a founder member of the UK Parts Alliance, the largest UK based organisation in the supply of automotive parts - will keep their Nemos for four years.  During this time they will be used on an intensive multi-drop operation, delivering OE quality parts from the world’s leading suppliers - such as Bosch, Delphi, LuK, Mann, Monroe, Shell and Valvoline - to automotive repair sector garages, fast-fit outlets, retail motor factors and other customers; in what is an exceptionally demanding marketplace.

CAS offers its trade customers a tracked delivery service within the hour.  The company prides itself in having quality parts available for virtually every make and model of car on the road.  As part of its corporate philosophy, all CAS drivers are trained to a high standard - including NVQ2 - so they drive both safely and efficiently.  The company is keenly focused on all performance aspects of its business, monitoring all vehicles and drivers to maximise fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.  As such, with the introduction of Nemos to the fleet, the overall average fuel economy of the CAS fleet has been lifted dramatically.
