Affordable home ownership in Nuneaton
A drop in event organised by Orbit HomeBuy Agents to promote affordable home ownership in Nuneaton was a great success with almost 50 people attending.
Held at the Town Hall, the event provided information and advice regarding the range of options available to help local people get onto the property ladder. Peter Edmonds from Central Financial Services also attended and visitors were happy to have the opportunity to speak with an expert in the field about mortgages specifically tailored to HomeBuy purchases.
Orbit HomeBuy Agents Manager, Karen Coleman said: “The event provided a relaxed environment in which people needing help to find a home they can afford could come along and chat to our team about the range of HomeBuy products. It also gave them a chance to find out about some of the affordable housing schemes in the area. We were grateful to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council for the hospitality they showed us on the day and delighted that so many people came along; it demonstrates the real need in the area for low-cost home ownership and we are pleased to be in a position to help them achieve this. Hopefully some of these people are now one step closer to finding their new home. And, of course, if you were unable to attend but would like further information, please get in touch with us.”
Visitors were able to take away information packs outlining all the HomeBuy products. These include New Build HomeBuy (a part-buy part-rent scheme) and Rent to HomeBuy which enables people to rent their home at a discounted rate while saving up for a deposit to purchase at a later date.
HomeBuy Direct is another popular product which is offered by some developers on their new homes. Those eligible can take advantage of equity loans provided jointly by the developer and the government of up to 30 per cent of the property value. No interest has to be paid on the loan for the first five years, making the early years much more affordable compared to a purchase using a conventional mortgage.
Currently undergoing regeneration, the Bluebell site at Camp Hill is one of the local schemes offering HomeBuy Direct with 18 houses and apartments now available for sale from Barratt Homes.
HomeBuy products have helped thousands of people into a home they can afford, whether they are a first time buyer, a key worker, a social housing tenant or someone on a local authority waiting list. Orbit HomeBuy Agents can help people in all kinds of domestic situations whose annual household income is up to £60,000.
