Happy Birthday Stirling! Sir Stirling Moss OBE, patron of next year’s GPlive event, which will be held at Donington Park on 18-20 May 2007, celebrates his 77th birthday this Sunday. I’m sure that you’ll join with us in wishing him a very happy birthday.

Sir Stirling, along with former McLaren ace Jochen Mass has been involved with GPlive from the outset, providing a unique insight into the charm, camaraderie and competitiveness of grand prix racing from a winner’s perspective.

Moss is a motor racing legend. He dominated the sport he loved for fifteen years, racing professionally over 500 times. His tally of wins was proportionally higher than any other driver. Moss also brings to GPlive his unique sense of fun – as can be seen by the attached photographs - when he enthusiastically took part in a fashion shoot at the launch of GPlive!

Sir Stirling demonstrated a 1954 Maserati 250F at the GPlive launch event. He is as keen as ever to get back on track in May, when the GPlive event combines races and on track demonstrations from historic cars and drivers who remain motor sport legends.
“It will celebrate the pinnacle of racing achievement and showcase some wonderful old relics – including me!” said Moss. “I’m sure that the combination of historic, classic, and contemporary Grand Prix machinery will be irresistible to enthusiasts from around the world.”

“Current Formula One cars are brilliant. Boring…but brilliant” said Moss in typically feisty fashion. “They are just amazing in their performance, but nothing like as much fun to drive or watch as the type of car we raced in our era. Even today, getting behind the wheel of the Maserati 250F, is still a pleasure – it’s one of my personal favourites – and if we can have those girls back for the GPlive event……….”
