Do It 4 Real summer camps - Great news for parents

15th June 2010 Print

Just £79* can buy a 5-night activity holiday for 10-19 year-olds this year. Young people in England can attend a Do It 4 Real summer camp including Football Academy, Adventure Quest, Survival Expedition, Street Dance Academy or Future Leader, among others. There are so many to choose from. This is great news for parents in the wake of the recession, and at a time of year when commercial UK holiday costs are often hiked up.

Do It 4 Real is run by the charity YHA (Formerly known as the Youth Hostel Association), throughout England during the school holidays. The first camp begins on 18 July.

The Do It 4 Real blog and Facebook site is already buzzing with first-time campers and those returning to camp, who want to meet up with new and old friends.

"These are really affordable action-packed summer camps," said Caroline White, Chief Executive of YHA

"In a world of social media, YHA's Do It 4 Real camps encourage young people to get out and meet friends in the real world. Social networking should not just occur online when there are real opportunities to abseil; kayak, dance, climb, or quad bike with new friends." She continued.

The website doit4real.co.uk has all the relevant information for those wishing to apply.

Do It 4 Real is aimed at really money-savvy parents. The organisers of the summer camps have even teamed up with a well-known insurer so parents can select personal insurance for their children for only £6.50.

Do It 4 Real summer camps are available to young people in England between ages 10-16. Future Leader camps are available to young people aged 17-19.

Thanks to funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (now known as the Department for Education), subsidised places are available for all young people living in England.

*Prices start from £79, up to £299, depending on circumstances, and run for five nights. The £299 option includes a free place for a friend or a sibling (see doit4real.co.uk).
