Love your job, but hate your commute? Why not swap the two and a half-hour train journey for a 30 second dash, (still in your pyjamas) to a place situated just downstairs? Working from home is efficient, eco-friendly, and, apart perhaps from missing out on the departmental Christmas party, it can make life altogether more enjoyable.

According to new research based on a study of nearly 25,000 employees of the technology company IBM, those who had flexible working conditions, including from home, could work up to 57 hours before working life started to interfere with home life while for office workers it was 38 hours. The research found home working allows employees to work for the equivalent of almost two days extra a week without feeling the strain.

John Lougher, Managing Director of Lagan Homes comments: “The benefits of working from home, even occasionally, are now widely accepted. Not only does it reduce the amount of commuting people have to do, enhancing their work-life balance, but many are actually more productive.”

“At our Kingswood Park development in Bedford, our homes are designed to offer purchasers the flexibility and space to work from home while enjoying the surrounding countryside scenery.”

Kingswood Park is a collection of three, four and five bedroom homes located at the newly created Biddenham Vale development which is bounded by the River Great Ouse in west Bedford. Once complete, Biddenham Vale will accommodate a community hall, food and retail outlets, a crèche, multi faith ecumenical hall, public library and a gymnasium.

The ‘Galway’ house style offers a separate study area which is ideal for those who want to escape the rest of the busy household for some quiet time to work. Unlike other new homes in the area, Lagan Homes has not compromised on space to include a study room. In addition, the Galway provides a kitchen / dining room and living room on the ground floor as well as a separate cloak room and study. The first floor is home to the impressive master bedroom complete with en suite bathroom while a family bathroom serves bedrooms two and three.

Kingswood Park is located in Bedford, just minutes away from the vibrant town centre which boasts a number of high quality boutique shops, unique independent retailers and the Harper and Howard Shopping Centres which are home to numerous High Street retailers and department stores; all of which is complimented by a fantastic selection of cultural and entertainment venues.

For schools, Biddenham Vale will be home to new lower and middle schools while Biddenham Upper School and Sports College is a short journey away. For sports enthusiasts Bedford Sports and Hockey Centre, Box End Park extreme sports centre, a 200 acre Country Park and Bedford Golf Club are nearby.

Bedford is extremely well connected for commuters with Bedford’s two railway stations offering fast and frequent train services to London King’s Cross St Pancras in just 40 minutes. Bedford has excellent road travel connections being located between the M1 and A1 with the M25 to the south and the A14 to the north linking to the M6 and M11.

Prices at Kingswood Park start from just £239,950 for a three bedroom home with study. The marketing suite and show home is open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm.
