Jonathan Ansell reveals his West End dreams

In 2007, everything seemed to be going to so well for Jonathan Ansell. The charismatic young singer with the sensational tenor voice was riding high with G4, the pop opera group who shot to fame on the X Factor. However with a sell out tour and a record deal still in place, the band decided to split.

Since then, the man hailed as the “Justin Timberlake of opera" has not let the grass grow under his feet.  He has now achieved a debut solo album that topped the classical charts and also hit the top ten of the pop charts. And this is just the start of an exciting new journey for Jonathan, whose natural modesty and delightful charm has remained unaffected by his well-deserved success. Jonathan is now performing in Bill Kenwright’s production of Whistle Down the Wind. The musical has quite a pedigree with music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by the Jim Steinman (the man behind Meatloaf’s ‘Bat out of Hell’ and Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’).

In this video interview Jonathan talks about the show, his hopes for making it on the West End, and the frictions that lay behind the G4 split.
