For those less sporty types who still want to enjoy Wimbledon 2010, Guoman Hotels’ flagship five star The Royal Horseguards in Whitehall has introduced a quintessentially English afternoon tea with a tennis twist - including homemade tennis ball truffles.

Conceived by the hotel’s talented pastry chef Joanne Todd, guests can treat themselves to The Royal Horseguards’ selection of life-like tennis ball truffles filled with either champagne jelly, strawberry ganache or fresh mint leaves crushed to create mint ganache.

Sip on the beautifully refreshing strawberry and Pimms consommé, created by carefully simmering fresh strawberries for over four hours, finished with a dash of Pimms.

The Royal Horseguards’ Wimbledon High Tea is presented complete with Wimbledon logo cupcakes, meringue filled with fresh cream garnished with a fresh English strawberry, traditional scones with strawberries and cream and strawberry macaroon finished with a pink English rose petal.

The tennis-inspired menu is served with traditional silver pots of tea, or for a pre-evening warm up, try the delicious fresh strawberry daiquiri option!

The high tea can be enjoyed in the hotel lounge or on The Royal Horseguards stunning sun terrace overlooking Embankment Gardens and the London Eye - a perfect spot to sit back, relax and think of Andy Murray battling it out whilst you take in the view.

The Wimbledon afternoon tea for two will be available throughout the tournament at The Royal Horseguards priced at £28 per person.
