Children from Kirkleatham Hall recently enjoyed a day away from the classroom, learning the tricks of the trade from Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire staff at housing development Orchard View.

The class three children had been learning about building and had visited the development when it first launched. They had even prepared their own sales office in their classroom and building site in the outside play area, complete with cement mixer, building tools and playbricks.

Sarah Passman, a teacher at Kirkleatham Hall who accompanied the children to Orchard View, said: “We returned to the site to visit the show homes and talk to the site manager and sales executives. The children have really enjoyed the building topic and were very excited about their visit to the Taylor Wimpey site.”

Kirkleatham Hall School is a day special school with pupils aged from four to 19. All pupils have Statements of Special Educational Needs for severe or
profound learning difficulties. The school provides opportunities for all pupils to reach their full potential within a happy, caring and stable environment.
