Green-fingered pupils at Wincanton Primary School have seen their garden blossom thanks to leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.

The school received a donation of £250 from Taylor Wimpey’s Deserving Causes initiative, which has helped a variety of community projects in Wincanton since its launch last year.

The fund has been used to help Wincanton Primary School pupils transform their overgrown garden, pond and wildlife area into a tidy, useable space for the whole school to enjoy.

Sarah Martin, head teacher at Wincanton Primary School, said: “As we are a town centre school with very little green space, it’s important we develop and make the most of what we’ve got. The children love being outside and getting their hands dirty whilst learning about the plants and other wildlife in the garden.

She added: “The donation from Taylor Wimpey has also enabled us to revitalise our overgrown pond and build raised beds in which the children can grow from seed to table and experience a whole range of fruits and vegetables.”

Richard Goad, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “Taylor Wimpey is always pleased to support the communities in which we build and it’s great to see such positive results from one of our deserving causes. I’m especially excited about the vegetable beds as education regarding the value of food and the importance of your five a day is so important for youngsters in today’s society.”

Taylor Wimpey is the housebuilder behind Kingwell Rise, located on Deanesly Way in Wincanton. The development offers a selection of two bedroom apartments and four bedroom homes, with properties for all types of purchaser. Prices start from just £114,995.
