Be inspired: Tatra Photography holidays

7th July 2010 Print

Master your camera, improve your photographic techniques and capture stunning images on one of Tatra Photography's inspirational 2011 workshops.

Breaks start at just £435 per person for a three night wildlife photography holiday in Germany's Bavarian National Park or at £499 for a three night Bird of Prey workshop in the Czech Republic.

Prices include: return flights from London Stansted to Prague, return airport transfers, three nights accommodation (half board for Bird of Prey breaks and B&B for wildlife breaks), transfers to photography locations and professional tuition. The wildlife breaks take place on selected dates between 21 March and 2 April 2011 and offer the chance to capture some of Europe's great predators including wolves, bears and lynx as well as the endangered European bison, deer, otters and wild horses.

Professional falconers and trained birds provide participants of the Bird of Prey workshop (11-14 April 2011) with a rare chance to photograph species such as golden eagle, sea eagle, peregrine falcon, tawny owl and eagle owl both in flight and perched in authentic natural settings. There is also the opportunity to take shots of Prague's beautiful architecture.

Budding landscape photographers can choose from Tatra Photography's three night “Lakes and Waterfalls” holiday and its week long “Peaks and Valleys” break. The courses are set in the breathtaking Tatra Mountains and start from £599 and £1199 per person respectively. Both workshops take place on selected dates in June and October. They require a moderate level of fitness and include stays in remote lodges surrounded by beautiful valleys, rugged mountains and lake locations that are perfect for reflection and sunrise shots.

The longer course also features an overnight stay at Lomnicky Peak 2634 metres above sea level with the unique opportunity to photograph sunsets and sunrises and, on clear nights, to shoot star trails. The peak is reached by cable car from Tatranska Lomnica. Visitors to the peak are usually limited to a 50 minute stay.

Both the three and seven night landscape photography holidays include: return flights from London Luton to Krakow, (2 hour flight), airport transfers, transport to all photography locations, three or seven nights full board accommodation and four/six days of photography tuition. Accommodation is in a combination of remote mountain cottages, Penzion 2004 and in an apartment at Lomnicky Peak.

Professional tuition on each of Tatra Photography's holidays is led by one of the following award-winning photographers: Chris Weston, Nick Jenkins, Lee Pengelly and Peter Watmough. The breaks are suited to photographers of all abilities whether working in digital or film, from 35mm up to large format.

Photographic tuition covers: composition, exposure, shutter speed, focus and depth-of-field, apertures and understanding histograms. Participants will also learn to ‘read’ the landscape and how to create panoramas as well as getting tuition in HDR imaging and black and white photography. Numbers are limited to between seven and 14 per course, depending on the workshop, to ensure that each participant can receive high levels of personal tuition.

All the photographic locations featured in the courses have been thoroughly researched enabling participants to concentrate on photography and to put into practice the hints, tips and techniques offered by the professional photographers.
