'Staycationers' may still need travel insurance
With almost one-fifth of adults taking a short break in the UK during 2009, according to recent Mintel research, Post Office Travel Insurance is reminding holidaymakers of the need to take out travel insurance even when holidaying in the UK.
The impact of the recession has hit the international short break market with fewer breaks of three days or less being taken abroad in the past year. However, the Post Office is reminding people opting for a ‘staycation’ not to scrimp on travel insurance.
The Post Office advises those holidaying domestically that even though medical cover may not be needed in the UK, travel insurance still offers great peace of mind and cover in the case of travel delays or cancellations, and loss or theft of baggage.
Many holidaymakers could benefit from taking out an annual policy as it is often a more cost-effective and convenient way of buying travel insurance and ensuring your cover is always up to date. A Post Office annual travel insurance policy will provide cover travellers for both overseas and domestic travel, as long as the UK break includes 2 nights of pre-booked accommodation.
Both single trip and annual travel insurance policies are available for holidaymakers, with Post Office Travel Insurance cover starting at just £5.50 for a three-day UK break.
