RHS Garden Hyde Hall

RHS Garden Hyde Hall near Chelmsford hosts its first ever flower show this August, with over 30 top nurseries, growers and gardening suppliers coming together for the ‘Celebration of Plants’ which takes place from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th August.

Visitors can combine a visit to this inspirational Essex garden with the opportunity to enjoy late-summer displays from specialist nurseries including celebrated Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal winners such as Rougham Hall Nurseries, Broadleigh Gardens and Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants. Exhibitors will be offering a fantastic range of plants and shrubs for sale, many of which are not commonly available in garden centres. They will be on hand to offer expert advice and their innovative and creative displays will provide ideas on how to recreate planting schemes at home. As well as plants, there will be a selection of garden trade stands offering shoppers items including garden furniture, plant supports, hanging baskets, tools and garden sculpture.

Local Essex growers such as fruit specialist Ken Muir Ltd from Clacton-on-Sea, well-known for impressive displays of strawberries, Rose Cottage Plants from Epping, Ato-Saki Bonsai from Rochford and Todd’s Botanics from Coggeshall are among the confirmed exhibitors. On the final day, in true RHS Chelsea Flower Show tradition, there will be a sell-off of display plants from 4.30pm, where visitors can bag themselves a bargain to take home.

RHS Garden Hyde Hall is an inspirational destination for a great gardening day out. The 360-acre Hyde Hall estate includes a diverse range of self-contained garden areas, as well as extensive meadows and woodlands to explore, all with sweeping views of the surrounding agricultural landscape. As one of the driest places in the country, a highlight is the Dry Garden featuring over 4,000 plants representing 730 species and cultivars, developed to promote sustainable gardening techniques. Tying in with this, the ‘Celebration of Plants’ event will showcase many drought resistant plant varieties. The garden’s newly opened Visitor Centre, along with its Plant Centre, Gift Shop and Café provide everything for a great family day out.
