It has been officially announced that the Yorkshire-based Volvo Dealer Group, Crossroads Truck and Bus Ltd has acquired the Hartshorne Group, one of the West Midland’s leading commercial vehicle dealerships.

As the independent Volvo dealer group serving Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, Crossroads has built its reputation on the values of integrity and customer service. The acquisition is planned to bring strength in depth as the combined businesses work together to provide even greater customer service.

Founded in 1968 in the heart of the Midlands, Hartshorne Group has been owned by the Bachelor and Mason families who have nurtured and developed the company from small beginnings into a customer focused business, serving operators across their region. The company prides itself on its commitment to its customers.

The intention is for the two businesses to operate independently with Hartshorne and Crossroads continuing to run as two separate companies in the same Group with each keeping their own identity, working locally to service customers’ needs.

According to Crossroads Managing Director Martin Cronin: “The addition of Hartshornes to the Group will give us greater opportunity to add value to customer’s operations by providing consistency and continuity across the key distribution centres of the Midlands and Yorkshire. We believe, that by working together, we can create even more opportunities for our employees, provide even greater customer service locally and build for the long-term future of both businesses.”

The combined businesses operate from 20 Volvo dealerships and have an employee base of 1,000 people and an annual turnover of circa £200 million.
