There is an exciting new buzz about Bury and Miller Homes’ is at the heart of it. Its new landmark development ‘Miller Homes @ The Rock’ is proving to be hot property and turning The Rock into a gem of a place to live. In the first three weeks over 20 per cent of the development has been sold - off plan!

The Rock is the largest combined retail, leisure and residential development to open in the UK in 2010. It features over sixty retail stores including M&S, Next, Primark and Debenhams, a 1,250 space car park, eight restaurants, a 10 screen Vue cinema and a 24 lane AMF bowling centre.

Miller Homes’ has an extensive offering of 24 contemporary apartments designs with a choice of one and two bedrooms, all with a great specification. This includes a kitchen appliance package with oven, hob, extractor hood, fridge/freezer and washer/.dryer, plus allocated parking and floor coverings included. Some apartments also feature a terrace and balcony. Prices are from a very reasonable £68,000. The apartments are located in a prime location, within seven storey Mazarin House situated above M&S and the four floor Peruzzi House close to the leisure facilities and with easy car park access. Views of the new ‘St John’s Gardens’ and the Pennine hills add to the appeal.

The sales success at ‘Miller Homes @ The Rock’ is further evidence that people prefer to buy than rent. Recent research, carried out by high street bank Santander†, indicated that now is a good time to buy. It further revealed the average private tenant could save £87 a month by moving on to the property ladder, as rent costs outstrip mortgage repayments. People here in the North West can make the biggest saving, with average monthly rental payments a massive £141 more expensive than the average mortgage bill.

Peter Vella, Sales Director, Miller Homes, says: “The Rock is a huge success, with phenomenal sales even before the show apartment opens. The location in the heart of a new vibrant town centre, great value and high specification is proving an irresistible opportunity for buyers, the majority of whom are either first time buyers or people who want two homes, one in the UK and other overseas. The vibrant town centre is only part of the appeal of the apartments, ease of commuting, with the Metro-Link interchange a short walk away is a bonus.”

Nick Maitland, from Pearson Ferrier estate agents, says: “Miller Homes at The Rock is the fastest selling new build development in Bury and possibly in the whole of the North West. The apartments offer the best of everything, location, lifestyle and value.”

Councillor John Byrne, Mayor of Bury, comments: “The Rock has revitalised the town centre. When we instigated The Rock, the residential element was seen as central to the scheme. We wanted a development that changed the culture of the town centre making a family friendly area that does not become a desolate area outside of shopping times. It had to offer a 24-7 lifestyle.“

“It is great news to hear of the success of Miller Homes development in a time that is reported as being a tough market. Well done Miller Homes for getting the marketing just about perfect. Why I even hear that my colleague, Councillor Mike Connolly is eager to move to ‘Miller Homes @ The Rock’ just as soon as he sells his property, so there is another property almost sold.”
