ScottishPower Platinum Fixed Energy January 2014

ScottishPower has launched a new bundled energy, heating cover and energy efficiency product, Platinum Fixed Energy January 2014. The online version of the product will cost consumers, on average, £1,211 a year, which is one of the more expensive currently available but includes:

ScottishPower's Home Comfort Standard boiler cover which normally costs £152.52
A wireless electricity monitor which typically retails for £30
A 25% discount on cavity wall insulation which could be worth £75
Fixed rates until 31st January 2014

Tom Lyon, energy expert at uSwitch.com comments: "If you want heating cover, an energy monitor and intend on getting cavity wall insulation, this product could give you an underlying energy cost of £1,028. This is £145 more expensive than E.ON's Save Online v2, which is the current cheapest online plan costing £883 but gives you fixed energy prices until 2014.

"Scottish Power's online version of Platinum Fixed Energy January 2014 is just the start of what we expect to be a series of packaged online plans. However, for those customers not wishing to make use of the extras, it's well worth shopping around for a cheaper deal - online plans are can be almost £300 a year cheaper than standard plans."
