Bohemian Rhapsody at New Look

We’re loving the new Idol collection at New Look, inspired by the spirited, uninhibited girl that escapes into her own fantasy world. Cue light and loose silhouettes and shapes that remind us of day’s running–round bare–foot in long grass.

The range features pretty, bohemian styles that are an interpretation of the Romany gypsy, it’s brooding, romantic and dark for the free–spirited girl with a fiery tempestuous side. Colours are inspired from nature and dusky, hot summer nights, so we see hues of purple, mint green, charcoal, lilac with touches of antique gold thrown in, giving a vintage, slightly distressed vibe that is so signature Idol.

We see boho–luxe day looks that Moss, Miller and Olsen would wear, like the printed, paisley chiffon play–suit. Also the ever–so sexy floaty sheer maxi with its asymmetric tiers that edge–up this overall romantic look. Also easy–to–wear Kaftan inspired dresses, with sexy side slits that can easily be worn as tops. Present are pieces that accentuate the hourglass silhouette, in a directional way, like the monochromatic body–con dress with it’s separate side-panels that look like wings, think Florence on stage.

Also cute day dresses with antique beading, inspired by astronomical charts.

Hippy inspired embroidery and geometric gun–metal embellishments that are juxtaposed with sporty shapes, like a scoop neck, for that fusion of old and more modern references. Black on liquid black body–con dresses with shimmering sequins, dresses that are pure head–spinners on the dance–floor!

Accessories nod to the nomadic, rope and crystal necklaces, giant hoop earrings and old gold pieces that exude elegance in the hot summer–sun. Idol shoes inject some street–vibe to flex it all up, think Daisy Lowe and Coco Sumner. Boots reference the grunge era, so it’s all biker with buckles and fashion–forward wedges: the Idol girl will stand tall, albeit in a pretty fashion.
