Peugeot number one choice for open top motoring

16th September 2005 Print
Peugeot 206 CC Peugeot was the first company to launch a car with a metal folding roof back in 1934. Today it is the number one choice for UK convertible car buyers in 2005 with total sales of 8838 vehicles.

In 1934 Peugeot changed the face of the convertible car market with the first car with an electric folding roof, the Peugeot 401 Eclipse. Then in January 2001 with the launch of the Peugeot 206 CC, it changed the UK and European convertible car market forever.

No longer were the added safety, security and durability of a metal folding roof the preserve of expensive luxury sports cars. The technology was now available to everyone.

Since its launch in 2001 the 206 CC has been the top selling convertible car with a metal folding roof, with total sales of 39,734 vehicles.

The success of the design of the 206 CC, however, evolved further in 2003 with the introduction of the 307 CC.

Since its launch in 2003 the 307 CC has dominated the medium size electric folding roof, convertible car sector. A total of 12,391 vehicles have been sold since launch and in the first eight months of 2005, over 4433 vehicles have been sold.

Peugeot’s range of best selling convertible cars starts at only £13,995 for the 206 CC 1.6 litre Sport model and rises to £21,000 for the 307 CC 2.0 litre 180 bhp model. Recently two HDi diesel powered models have been added to the ranges, a 1.6 litre 110 bhp version in the 206 CC, available at £14,695 and a 2.0 litre 136 bhp model in the New 307 CC, priced at only £19,900.

Both vehicles have Euro IV diesel engines and an exhaust particulate filter, so they will protect the environment and ensure the pleasure of open top motoring remains for years to come.
