Peugeot launches Trade Parts Club

23rd January 2006 Print
Peugeot will launch its Trade Parts Club through its Trade Association Dealers in January 2006 to support parts sales in to the independent motor trader market worth around £200 million.

The Peugeot Trade Association consists of Trade Parts Dealers who have met a number of standards laid out by Peugeot, to ensure that they have made the investment and have the expertise to serve the Trade Parts market effectively and efficiently.

The New Year’s resolution of Peugeot’s Trade Association Dealers will focus on providing the best possible service to the growing ranks of independent motor traders.

Over the last three years Peugeot has invested nearly £1 million to evaluate the independent motor trade market, and understand the unique requirements of this market sector.

The results from this survey showed that independent motor traders would by choice use original equipment parts, as long as they could be bought at a competitive price and delivered at a convenient time.

The survey spoke to over 3000 independent motor traders and of these, 90% said that identifying the correct part first time, followed by availability and prompt delivery, were their key requirements.

As Peugeot’s vehicle parc ages, more 4 – 7 year old vehicles will be seen by independent motor traders, therefore providing competitively priced parts and good availability will be important for Peugeot’s Trade Association Dealers to service this opportunity.

Peugeot already offers excellent parts availability, and has actively suppressed price increases on “wear” parts and parts for older vehicles, which has made Peugeot’s parts pricing very competitive in the market place.

To ensure good availability of parts for older Peugeot models, Peugeot’s Trade Association Dealers supporting the Peugeot Trade Parts Club will stock a wider range of the fastest moving parts and operate both a regular and an “emergency” delivery service.

Independent motor traders who join the Peugeot Trade Parts Club will also benefit from a Trade Club Price Guide, access to Peugeot’s computer based part identification and technical systems LASER / INFOTEC, regular visits from a dedicated Peugeot parts representative and access to a dedicated parts trade club web site.

The access to Peugeot’s LASER system guarantees that the Peugeot dealer can identify the exact part which was fitted to the vehicle, without the independent trader having to dismantle the vehicle or pre-check parts prior to ordering. The system uses the vehicle’s unique vehicle identification number (VIN) and the original vehicle manufacturing database to identify the correct component fitted to the vehicle, therefore preventing the, “try this mate” approach, saving time, money and increasing workshop efficiency.

The INFOTEC system provides access to “workshop” manuals, wiring diagrams and servicing / repair time schedules to assist the repairer in improving their workshop efficiency. The system is web based and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a subscription basis for IMTs.

The Trade Parts Club web site will provide a list of Peugeot’s Trade Association Dealers, promotional offers, an online Trade Price Guide detailing parts pricing / application information and a contact form amongst other benefits.

At launch, some 79 Trade Association Parts Dealers will be enrolled to support the Peugeot Trade Parts Club, but this number will increase to over 100 by the end of March 2006. This will provide Dealers across the UK, from Aberdeen to Plymouth, and Swansea to Ipswich.
