New product could help reduce heating bills

With climate change and the target to reduce carbon emissions still very firmly on the Government agenda, coupled with consumers needs to save money, this winter, if the last is anything to go by, will be a hive of activity by homeowners hoping to find a cost effective way to save money on heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint.

Room temperature control has successfully been managed by TRVs (Thermostatic Radiator Valves) for many years, yet taking this further, the terrier i-temp PRC (Programmable Radiator Control) is a revolutionary new product that now controls time as well as temperature, which means the radiator is only on at times actually required by the consumer, meaning less energy is used and bills can be reduced by 30 percent.

Some thrifty and even environmentally conscious consumers will already change their TRVs depending on each particular room’s heat requirements, but most will leave them set at a high of 5 (29 degrees). But the PRC is an intelligent product that can actually be set to come on/off at different times depending on the resident’s requirements. For example, a typical family will heat their whole house although may only require the heating on in a morning within the bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen, the heat emitting from the radiators in the lounge, dining room and office for instance is then wasted.
