Safety in numbers (of safety features!)

Soon to celebrate its first birthday, the uniquely designed 1007 – the first car in the world with two front electric sliding doors – still remains the highest scoring car ever tested by the independent safety assessment group, Euro NCAP.
The stylish Peugeot 1007, which has picked up two other prestigious automotive awards (Top Gear "Best Small Car" 2005 and Autocar "Idea of the Year" 2004), also offers additional class leading safety features on all models and at no extra cost, including:
Seven airbags, one of which is mounted on the steering column
Raised driving position with large glazed surface area for excellent visibility
Front pre-tensioning seatbelts with force limiters
Isofix child safety seat mountings that comply with the new three-point fixing standards
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) which detects if the vehicle is skidding and actively counteracts it – Research by the Swedish National Road Administration in 2002, showed that ESP reduces accidents by 22% in dry conditions and by some 33% in wet conditions.
With the Safer Roads Day campaign aiming to completely prevent casualties on the roads for one entire day, the Peugeot 1007 is certainly doing the lion’s share to protect drivers.
The 1007 is available in Dolce and Sport trim levels, the range starts at a highly competitive £10,850 for the 1.4-litre Dolce, rising to £12,600 for the top of the range Sport 1.6 2-Tronic. A 1.4-litre, 70 bhp HDi diesel engine is also available to further extend the appeal of the 1007.
