Citroen has further expanded its award-winning specialist Ready to Run vehicle range.  Now there is a new, higher payload and expanded range of the 3.5 tonne GVW Citroen Relay-based Plant & Go low-loading, wheeled/tracked plant carriers.  The versatile new Relay Plant & Go range has been launched to suit the requirements of the landscaping, ground maintenance, hire and construction sectors.  Citroen Relay Plant & Go vehicles can also be used as general purpose low-loading, flat-bed cargo carriers.

Operators can see this latest model at the forthcoming IOG Saltex Show at Windsor Racecourse in Berkshire, between 7th and 9th September 2010.

Since the Plant & Go body was added to the Ready to Run range last year, KFS has, with the introduction of the new range, increased the maximum payload from 1,600kg* to 1,680kg* and expanded the number of multi-function models in this low-loading range.

Priced from just £19,460 + VAT + delivery, the new Citroen Ready to Run Relay-based KFS Plant & Go range, now includes:

Plant & Go low-loading flat deck (1,580mm between wheel arches), with a choice of 3.0m, 4.0m and 4.6m deck lengths.

Plant & Go low-loading beaver tail (1,580mm between wheel arches), with a 3.2m or 3.7m flat deck section.

Plant & Go low-loading wide track (1,820mm between wheel arches), in flat deck or beaver tail configurations, to suit the largest ride-on mowers.

Robert Handyside, Citroen’s Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager, comments, “Citroen’s award-winning Ready to Run programme is already the most comprehensive of its kind offered by any LCV manufacturer in the UK.  The expanded and versatile new Plant & Go line-up caters for an even wider range of specialist applications.  The new flat deck models will appeal to hire companies and other operators who have to carry all types of small wheeled or tracked plant, as well as other machinery and general items.  The wide track model is ideal for ground maintenance applications with its ability to carry large, ride-on mowers and the beaver tail model suits those companies carrying wheeled and tracked plant.”

Based on a Citroen Relay 35 120hp or 160hp cab unit, the all-alloy Plant & Go body is built on a unique KFS-specification drop frame, galvanised steel rear chassis.  This chassis is a key factor in the achievement of the Plant & Go’s ultra-low main deck height of just 530mm.

Thanks to this very low deck height and the use of its light alloy loading ramps - which uniquely also form the body’s removable sides - the Plant & Go vehicle provides fast, safe and easy drive on/drive off loading and unloading for small wheeled or tracked plant.  The Plant & Go’s light weight results in an exceptional payload capability of up to 1,680kg.*

The low-loading capability of the Plant & Go means that it can replace the use of trailers for many tracked/wheeled plant carriage applications.  As such, the Plant & Go vehicle can operate more efficiently and safely both on the road and within confined site conditions.

As a further bonus, the driver of the 3.5 tonne GVW Plant & Go vehicle does not require a special drivers’ licence and the vehicle does not have to be fitted with a tachograph, which provides further operational flexibility.

KFS Special Vehicles is offering the Plant & Go body with a range of options to match operator requirements including a cab top light bar, a Bushey Hall Ramsey 1,500kg capacity electric winch with nylon rope and a secure, full-width storage locker at the front of the load deck to carry strimmers, fuel and other small tools.

Andover-based KFS Special Vehicles Ltd - one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of 3.5 tonne GVW car transporters - also manufacturers a Citroen Relay-based vehicle car transporter for the Citroen Ready to Run programme.
