Peugeot provides a safe haven for children

The seatbelts found in modern cars are intended for individuals over 150 cms (approximately 5 feet) in height and with an adult bone structure. It is, therefore, important that children do not use a standard seatbelt without any form of booster or child seat. The lower belt run of the seatbelt is designed to be positioned as low as possible over the stomach of an adult. If a child uses only the belt, the belt is too high and, in the event of a collision, there is a risk of damage to internal organs as well as the child "slipping" out of the belt.
With new regulations governing the use of child car seats due to come into force in September 2006, every parent should ensure they understand and act on these regulations.
Peugeot has long been aware of the need to ensure that all owners have the best possible options with regards to the easy use and fitment of child car seats and, thereby, provide the best possible protection for this precious cargo.
This commitment was confirmed in independent testing by the Euro NCAP organisation of the Peugeot 107, 207, 407 and 407 Coupé which were awarded Four Stars for child protection – Four Stars equals the highest score awarded to any car tested.
To make sure that the fitting of a child car seat is as easy and secure as possible, Peugeot fits as standard to ALL models ISOFIX child car seat mountings and ALL models have a de-activation switch for the front passenger airbag to enable the safe fitment of a rear facing child seat.
With the campaign by GMTV "Check it Fits" in September 2005 reporting that 64% of child seats checked were not fitted correctly, the fitment of ISOFIX mountings avoids this risk. As the ISOFIX system anchors the child seat directly to the car it does not require the use of the seatbelts, so reduces the possibility of incorrect fitment and a potential reduction in the protection provided by the child seat in a collision.
Peugeot also offers two approved ISOFIX child car seats – the ISOFIX Kiddy designed for children from birth to 13 kg in a "rear facing" position and from 9 kg to 18 kg in a "forward facing" position as well as the Isofix Romer Duo. The Romer Duo is designed to be fitted in the rear seats, positioned in a "forward facing" position, and is for children 9 kg to 18 kg and has three seat angle positions. The seats are priced at £253.00 for the Kiddy and £289.00 for the Romer Duo and are available from all Peugeot Dealerships.
With the latest Peugeot 207 setting new safety standards in the Supermini category with its Five Star Occupant, Three Star Pedestrian and Four Star Child protection Euro NCAP rating, you know when your children travel in a Peugeot car they have the best protection possible.
