Dr Christian Jessen - Design for Health

Having to live with a disease or condition which means you have to inject yourself every day can be difficult to get used to. Whether you have a growth hormone deficiency or are diabetic, having to administer your own medication can be very disruptive to your life. And for those 27,000 under 18s in the UK who have to inject themselves daily, it can be even more daunting.
Evolving design of injection devices means that, where patients previously had only the option of using simple syringes and needles to inject medicines, there is a wide range of injection devices available including pens and ‘smart’ devices.
And now the Design for Health Award has been launched to give young people the opportunity to design the next innovative injection device.
Whether you are a budding young designer or are yourself affected and feel things could be a lot simpler, you can submit your entry and help make a difference to the lives of thousands of people.
In the following video, Dr Christian Jessen explains what issues those affected face on a daily basis as well as what the award involves and how you can enter.
