Having acquired its first Volvo in 2005, Davies National Transport (DNT) of Oswestry, Shropshire, recently witnessed the delivery of the 50th unit into their fleet.

Finished in the livery of DNT Vehicle Hire the 13-litre FH-500 was one of a batch of six ordered by the company. The three-axle tractor units feature the top level Globetrotter XL cab specification which includes a full leather interior, swivel seat and recliner-bunk as well as Bluetooth communication technology.

“Although it’s early days, it looks as though the latest Enhanced Environmental Vehicle (EEV) 500hp engine is returning even better fuel figures than the Euro-5 480s, said DNT’s Managing Director Gwynfor Davies, adding that he had “no complaints about the fuel on the 480.” Destined for rental operations in both the UK and Europe the DNT Volvos were selected because of their “reliability, service support and above-average re-sale value,” he added.

The combination of the 13-litre 500hp EEV Volvo engine, I-Shift automated gearbox and fully-equipped XL cab makes the Volvo FH tractor units perfect for long-distance operations at maximum permissible gross weights and at the same time reduces exhaust emission levels.

“50 of the 60 vehicles in our haulage and rental fleet are now Volvo which illustrates our commitment,” he confirmed.

Supplied via Hartshorne’s of Shrewsbury the vehicles come complete with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty and two-year service contract.
