Families should shop around for best travel credit card deals
Many parents are concerned they could get stung by a variety of holiday ‘rip-offs’ – including charges on travel credit cards – according to Post Office Travel Money’s new Family Holiday Report.
Some 52 per cent of parents are concerned about charges they may incur for using their debit or travel credit cards abroad, meaning they may do well to investigate the deals available on travel credit cards.
For example, the Post Office travel credit card does not impose charges for its customers on overseas purchases. For many holidaymakers this may help with holiday budgeting, as they will not have to worry about additional travel credit card fees on top of their holiday spend. Worryingly, the report also revealed that tourists are wasting more than £28m each year by changing pounds into euros at UK airports, where they face poor rates of exchange and additional commission fees.
To help their customers’ cash go further, the Post Office has waived its cash advance fee for travel credit card customers purchasing their foreign currency at the Post Office.
Post Office Head of Cards, Az Alibhai said: “With many people still feeling the pinch this will give them a bit of extra cash in their pockets to enjoy on holiday. We are dedicated to providing customers with flexibility and value when it comes to managing their money, especially as our travel credit card offers a combination of benefits that they can’t get anywhere else.
