Those of us who regularly drive to work or use our car to do the shopping know how stressful a journey can become, especially when it comes to negotiating heavy traffic or trying to find a place to park.

And if you often feel on the verge of tears when you reach your destination, a new scientific experiment comparing the stress levels when driving and then taking the bus shows you’re not alone.

The study was commissioned by Greener Journeys, an organisation dedicated to getting more car drivers onto buses in the next three years in order to cut carbon emissions.

The organisation highlights that whether you are on your way to a sporting event, shopping in town or to the cinema – sometimes you just can’t beat the bus.

To show its commitment to the cause and encourage people to get on the bus, Greener Journeys are giving away a million free bus trips, in a move they hope will help the environment and the health of millions of Brits.

Watch the following video feature to find out the results of the experiment and to hear what some daily drivers thought of the modern British bus journey.
