Amathus adds another Volvo FL to their cellar

Amathus Drinks plc, the North London-based specialist drinks distribution company have added another Volvo FL 18 tonner to their fleet.

An expanding drinks distribution business, Amathus have been progressively changing their fleet over from another marque and lighter gross weights.

Amathus Logistics Director, Phanos Theophanous said, “We still have the last of our 7.5 tonners, but it will soon be gone. All the rest of our fleet is now 18 tonnes, the lighter weight truck just isn’t an economic proposition for us any more.”

With a number of FLs already at work for Amathus, their Volvo truck fleet is growing. “We have been working with ‘05, ‘56 and ’58 plate FLs from new, and this latest one joined the fleet at the end of May,” explained Phanos Theophanous.

He added. “The FL is a great vehicle. Our drivers like them, and I’m very happy with the service we get from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London, they are very helpful.”

The new FL is fitted with a dry freight box body and barn doors by GM Billings & Sons based in Loughton, Essex. Phanos said, “I like to deal with local companies and Billings make a good product; we’ve done a lot of business with them.”

The FL is based at the Amathus Tottenham headquarters and is primarily engaged in multi-drop work in and around central London. With an e-commerce business soon to be launched by Amathus, the fleet looks set to grow.
