Leeds Building Society is delighted to support Breast Cancer Campaign by selling pink ribbon pin badges throughout October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

All of the Society's 65 national branches will participate by offering the pink ribbons for a suggested donation of £1. The campaign begins this Friday (1st October) and continues until 31st October.

The mission of Breast Cancer Campaign is to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer and accounts for nearly one in three of all cancers in women. One woman in nine will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and over 45,500 women will be diagnosed with the disease in the UK each year. Every year around 12,000 women will die from the disease.

Franklin Jacoyange, Corporate Partnerships Executive at Breast Cancer Campaign said, "By stocking our pink ribbons this October, Leeds Building Society will be helping to raise vital funds for research into breast cancer. Continuing the research efforts and raising awareness remain vital to beating the disease."

Gary Brook, Head of Corporate Communication at Leeds Building Society said, "This is the fourth successive year that we have supported this campaign. We are confident of another great fundraising effort this year as well as further increasing awareness, amongst our staff and customers, of this awful disease."
